Touring Minneapolis and St. Paul.

The Fit Tourist: NEWS

We are now starting our second season of offering tours around the Twin Cities and are incredibly excited about summer activities.  Along with our biking tours, which will start in late May, we are now offering guided walking tours.  These are a perfect outing for those of you in town for business or for those of you looking for something fun to do with visiting family and friends!  The walking tours take about 1.5 hr and two different destinations are currently offered.  Dates and times for the tours are available on the signup link posted on the “walking tours” page.  Feel free to email or call us if you’d like to take a tour but do not see a time/date that fits your schedule and we will work to arrange a tour for you.  Private bike tours are currently available so just call/text message or email us to set up your tour.  Along with these activities, we are also sponsoring several one day bike tours and a multi-day historical bike tour.  We think these activities will be of interest both to the new and experienced cyclist and offer opportunities to get outside and enjoy our environment!

Stay healthy.  Enjoy the outdoors.

Dakota War History Ride

We are sponsoring a unique historical 3 day bike tour which recognizes the 150th Anniversary of the Dakota War.   We will cycle to various historical sites associated with the war between the Dakota Sioux and the US Military and the rides are punctuated by presentations by expert historians.  Fit Tourist guides have helped design the route and will help lead this tour which combines  great biking with multiple historical site stops between Montevideo and St. Peter, southwest of Minneapolis.  Local historians will bring key events alive as you hear about this important and challenging moment in our state’s history.   August 2-5.

Mississippi River Ride

We encourage you to also look at a unique bike touring opportunity being offered this spring by Have Fun Biking with help from The Fit Tourist.  The Mississippi River Ride is a 6 day tour, starting May 22 and the route travels between the headwaters of the Mississippi and the Twin Cities.   Details can be found at www.HaveFunBiking.com.

Pedal Power Tours

The Fit Tourist is proud to join with Have Fun Tours in organizing a special biking event:

As part of a progressive bike fitness program, we are guiding bike tours of 12, 21 and 35 miles in May, June and July.  Ride one was just completed under 90 degree, sunny weather.  We enjoyed stops at Isle Bun and Coffee and Punch Pizza and both places provided excellent food breaks.  Four chain of lakes were visited and biked between the eating excursions!  Each tour is aimed to provide bike maintenance tips, improve biking confidence AND show off some of the best biking trails in the greater twin cities.  June’s ride will visit downtown St. Paul and utilize 4 different bike trails and the last ride in July goes up and down the Mississippi river where we will cross the river 12 (!) times.  Each ride is $39 or sign up for all three for $99.
